So since last we met...
-We started packing. This process took a very long time, and as what happens with moving, became kind of a life "eating" event. Everything we did was around packing the house, cleaning the house, and eventually moving. We couldn't have done any of that without the help of some people from our church and some very generous neighbors.
-Ophelia finished 5th grade in Descartes and started 6th grade here in Fougères. I'd like to say this transition was smooth but it wasn't. Her new school is great, her old school was great, but as most of you have moved from one school to another, you know the challenges every child faces. New people, new social structure, new rhythm.
-We navigated moving in France. While this wasn't the first time, it truly was a different experience. When we moved from Albertville to Loches, we packed up a van (which promptly died as we made it to Loches) and had luggage sent by train. We then waited for boxes to arrive from storage in England to our apartment. When we left Loches for Descartes we had a month to transport our belongings from one place to the other, and a lot of help in doing that.
Here we had to totally pack the house, rent a moving truck (which turned into movers) to put all of our belongings (except some things which we left in our car) in storage with no place to live. It was a very intense experience.
-Nicole has started school, which means once a month to Paris for her (so that's a Train, Metro, Train, Walk or car ride). It's a 4 hour trip, which is tiring for her but she is really enjoying her studies. I have continued working with KM (I have a trip to Germany in january) and helping with teaching in Loches (which is done by video). I also picked up a horn again, the bugle, and play in a local drum and brass ensemble.
There's a lot more to say, so look for another post in the next few days to continue the story, especially about the church plant in Fougères, the church in Descartes, and some next steps for us.
I do want to take a second to thank LifePointe Christian Church for joining the team, welcome!
