For those of you who follow us regularly, a lot of our posting happens via a private facebook group. We want to respect the privacy of people around us, and realize the importance of connecting with people in an effective way.
Having said that here we are.
I'm writing today with a simple prayer request for you.
At the beginning of next school year, we will say a fond goodbye to two of our teammates. This has always been in the planning and now that has finally come. Why say goodbye? Because they are going to start their own church plant in another city in France.
This is amazing but to be honest will put us a little short handed. We have capable and gifted people in our small church in Descartes but are praying that God might allow us to see if there are those who wish to come and help us either long term or short term.
- What do I mean by short term?
- What is required?
- What will this person do?
We would also accept someone who is a gifted musician or seeks to hone their skills in planning worship meetings and public speaking.
Another role would be for someone, at the end of two years, to launch a small group including a few Christians but mostly non Christians in their neighborhood.
- How does the team function?
- Where will I live?
- What do I mean, then, by long term?
A long term missionary would need to commit to:
- Fundraising
- Spending between 6 months - 1 year at a French language learning school in France. (depending on the language level before arriving)
- Spending the consequent year living in France getting used to the culture, understanding the local setting and observing team and church strategies. This person also would need to submit to training through our French denomination, Perspectives.
- Then be willing to take responsibility between Loches and Descartes.
- I really want to come but maybe for just a few months, and have no real knowledge of the language. Can I come?
If you aren't interested in coming for any length of time will you pray for this idea? There is much work to do and much to be harvested in our region.
A bientôt!
Greg
